FREEDOM! That's what Freeride Sessions are all about! Just imagine
that instead of riding among crowds of other skiers you could share
vast and very diverse powder terrain just with your friends.. Imagine
that you could choose from great number of routes, passing through
wide ridges and pine trees spaced two car-lengths apart..
Since we in the Bulgarian Extreme and Freeride Association have
devoted ourselves to the search of fresh powder we know this feeling.
FREERIDE SESSIONS are exactly about that - the search for untouched
snow and beautiful mountain slopes. They are a possibility to gather
together Skiers and Snowboarders and give them the possibility to
share their experience and ideas. And for those who are familiar
with basic freeride techniques, but lack enough experience they
are the best possibility to learn to recognize safe terrain, choose
the best line to ride and develop the right feeling of technique
selection.
The members of the TRAVEL TEAM of the Bulgarian Extreme and Freeride
Skiing Association have used their experience and knowledge of Bulgarian
Mountains to make a combination of good riding slopes and comfortable
accommodation as a basis for FREERIDE SESSIONS. The programs are
fit according to the desires of the participators in the Sessions.
We have the possibility to chose between riding along the fantastic
slopes and forests of Todorka Peak with just short hikes from the
top station of the brand new lift, explore the extreme terrain of
Vitosha mountains or roam along the beautiful valleys of Rila and
Pirin mountains and select some of the slopes as a place where we
will be the only riders to leave their tracks..
What's more is that Bulgaria has a very rich cultural and historical
heritage. In the time of rest we will be able to visit villages
with old houses that remember the times when our parents have not
been born, to taste the unique Bulgarian coisine and wines, to rest
our tired bodies in some of the numerous hot mineral springs..

Many skiers have gained the initial experience of skiing, learnt
some of the basic techniques, but not dared to leave the ski runs
and feel the incredible pleasure of riding the untouched powder-covered
slopes because they have felt that they still don't have the needed
skill and knowledge. The question that arises in this situation
is "From where to learn?" Textbooks or videos? Videos
may give the idea, but only very experienced riders can learn from
them.. With textbooks the situation is not better. Because the ability
of choosing a safe route with good snow, reach it and ride it is
gained by a lot of experience. And experience requires time and
numerous mistakes that might cost a lot.. That's why we consider
that the best way to learn is to learn from a person, who have already
gained the needed experience, who have the needed knowledge of recognizing
safe terrain and choosing the optimal line and who have the ability
to teach others and is ready to share his knowledge with them.
The experienced riders of BEFSA's Travel Team will do their best
to provide the participants in a Freeride School Program with the
knowledge of snow, avalanche danger, rescue equipment, save traveling,
route selection and needed techniques. Thanks to their thorough
knowledge of local conditions they will always be able to select
a route with best snow fitting your abilities and little by little
provide you with the needed skill and experience to make you a good
freerider, who is capable of making right decisions, finding beautiful
untouched terrain and riding it in his own way..

Freeride meetings are events organized regularly by BEFSA during
the winter seasons. Usually they last a weekend or a week. Their
aim is to gather together Bulgarian and foreign riders and give
them the possibility to ride and have fun together.

You are an experienced freerider, who has devoted himself to finding
new terrain and exploring remote destinations? You have heard that
in Bulgaria there are hundreds of slopes, that have never been skied
and you would like to make your own trip to discover them? OK. The
mountains await you. And since we, the riders from the Travel Team
of BEFSA have devoted to the same thing we know how to assist you

Mountain guides and
Instructors
Our guides and instructors are chosen for their ability to provide
you with an exciting and memorable ski/snowboard vacation, while
caring for your safety and comfort at all times. They are leaders
and mountaineers. They are members of the Bulgarian Extreme and
Freestyle Ski Association (BEFSA). All of them are expert skiers
and snowboarders with great experience and strong communication
skills.
They possess thorough knowledge of the local mountains and weather
conditions. Our guides and instructors will be glad to help you
find untouched snow, reveal you the great beauty of the Bulgarian
Mountains and teach you all they know about snow, safe route selection
and freeriding techniques.
Since we want to make your vacation really a magical ski/snowboarding
experience our maximum guest-to-guide ratio is 5:1. In this way
you won’t have to compete with others to find untouched powder and
your guide will be able to pay personal attention to everybody.
